- Attend meetings each month
- Be punctual and ready t
- conduct the business of the committee
The Officers: Duties and Responsibilities of All Officers
- Attend agenda planning and meetings each month
- Perform the duties of their elected office
- Be accessible for regular communication among each other and the staff (e.g. telephone)
- Observe courtesy and respect toward one another and the staff
- Exhibit an attitude of service and collaboration
- Serve as role models for other members of the committee – punctual, ready t
- learn, non-judgmental, respectful of the opinions of others and exhibit good human relations
- All officers shall have copies of all materials listed under chairperson
Chairperson - the presiding officer of the committee
- Plans the agenda with the officers and principal/principal designee.
- Presides at regular meetings, call meetings, etc...
- Coordinates the functions of the committee
- Maintains order at all meetings
- Must be fair and impartial
- Performs all other reasonable duties pertaining t
- the office
- Assists in the development of the school plan or the compensatory education activities
- The chairperson should have a copy of the following documents:
A. School Plan
B. Budget
C. Bylaws
D. Parent Involvement Policy
E. Robert's Rules of Order
F. List of officers and committee members
G. Calendar
H. Month by Month Guide
Vice-Chairperson – the officer next in rank to the chairperson, who will preside at the meeting in the absence of the chairperson
- Assists the chairperson
- Performs the duties of the chair person in his absence
- Participates in the planning of the monthly agenda
Secretary – the officer responsible for keeping records of the meetings and correspondence
- Records and reads the minutes at all meetings
- Maintains a written report of all meetings
- Keeps a roster of membership
- Keeps a record of attendance at all meetings
- Performs other reasonable duties as delegated and consistent with the role of the office
- Facilitates communication within the committee (phone tree)
- The secretary should always have a copy of the following on hand:
- Bylaws
- Standing Rules
- Robert's Rules of Order
- Minute Book
- List of members
- Attendance Records
- List of unfinished business
Assistant Secretary – the officer next in rank tothe secretary, who takes on the duties of the secretary in his/her absence
- Assists the secretary
- Performs the duties of the secretary in the absence of that officer
Parliamentarian – the expert in the rules and functions of the committee according to Robert's Rules of Order
- Assists the chairperson in maintaining order at all meetings
- Is familiar with the bylaws of the committee, rules of parliamentary procedures, and Robert's Rules of Order
- Participates in the planning of the monthly agenda
- Facilitates the functioning of the committees
